The goal was to circle the Uintas, staying on as much dirt as possibe. Sometimes a difficult task due to wilderness boundaries and Ute Tribe lands.
Anyway, the plan was to leave at 4am. Per my usual, I couldn't sleep well so I left at 2:45am or so. Two 100w lights were more than adequate, but lots of deer, porcupines, and other obstacles made the morning canyons a little scary.
After a bunch of slab (miles???) finally got to dirt. Air temps were suprisingly cool and I was under dressed and freezing.
Hand warm up break. Can't wait for the sun to rise.
Almost drowned the bike here. Damn river was deeper than it appeared. Scouting would have been smart, but then I might not have tried it?
This didn't help the borderline hypothermia. Had to push the bike through for fear of sucking water in the intake.
Finally the sun rises, but I'm still freezing.
Cute, soon to be viscious, sheep dog pups.
Views of the peaks.

The roads on the north slope are either wide open throttle fast and smooth, or second gear rock gardens.
Made it to Vernal around 11am. Drank a bunch of caffeine, then rode for a bit with local Ryan.
Fun wash, but I was riding like crap in the heat and I'd already been riding for 8 or 9 hours. Putz, putz, that's how I rode this wash.
High quality petrol in Neola. Nice to have a low 10:1 compression piston for situations like this. The XR will run on piss if it comes to that.
Back into the mountains.

Pics never do it justice, but this was fuuunnn........
On a 15 hour day, bits of slab are always welcome rest.
Nice place to ride.
More......"I should really slow down".
Trusty (so far) $1800 steed finishes another great loop.
